Activities in local area around Longlands Cottage in Hay-on-Wye

Local area

A five minute stroll through the garden and the Archery Meadow will take you onto the banks of the river Wye, and a further twenty minute walk will take you through beautiful riverside woodland all the way into Hay town centre. A ten minute drive through Clyro will take you onto the Begwyns, and on the otherside of Hay you can climb Hay Bluff. Longlands is surrounded by some of the most beautiful walking the UK has to offer.

There is an abundance of things to do in the area. Walking, horse-riding, para-gliding, canoeing, kite-flying are just some of the activities we recommend. For a quieter day, enjoy a stroll into Hay, hunting out treasures in the world famous book shops, relaxing in the cafes and antique shops, enjoying an ice-cream whilst walking around the lanes, or just talking to the locals in the pub. It is a wonderful way to spend the weekend.

For special occasions, GeoDomes can be erected in the garden from Geoff, starting at £300. Please contact directly geoff@geodomes.com and see the photo to the right.

At Longlands you will find a pack with all information needed from emergency services, maps, contacts for pubs and activity centers and other local recommendations.

It was such a relief to arrive to the calm and quiet of Longlands after a busy few weeks in London (and not too bad a drive either!). Waking up and opening the curtains to see the view out to the hills was calming for the eyes and soul. Longlands had everything we needed in the kitchen, plenty of room for us all to sit and do our own things without feeling too crowded (8 of us) in the sitting room and complete peace to have a great nights sleep. Fantastic walks on our doorstep and the don't even get me started on the wonderful antique shops in Hay! Thank you so much we will be back.” Emma Lewis
